[Comparsion] AMD Ryzen 5 4500U vs Ryzen 7 3750H – the younger sibling wins again

It’s team Red again. Today, we have the recently released AMD Ryzen 5 4500U versus last year’s AMD Ryzen 7 3750H. We are going to compare how these CPUs perform against one another and decide which is the better option for your system.

Specifications

In terms of specifications, the biggest difference between the two processors is the number of cores and threads. The older Ryzen has 4 cores and 8 threads which should in theory make it more suitable for multi-core tasks, while the new boy features 6 cores and 6 threads, meaning no multithreading.

CPU Benchmarks

In both benchmarks, the newer sibling in the Ryzen family does better than the older one. In our first 3D rendering benchmark the newer one is 20% faster than the Ryzen 7 3750H and in general, it does better.

As far as the GPU Benchmarks go, the Ryzen 5 4500U does better by being 34% faster.

Gaming capabilities

As far as the gaming capabilities go, the Ryzen 5 4500U is performing significantly better than the Ryzen 7 3750H. In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive the former is faster by 39% on average while in Dota 2 the difference is 91%.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the older Ryzen 7 3570H is not a match for the newer AMD Ryzen 5 4500U. Ryzen 5 4500U is doing 29% faster on average in our CPU benchmarks and is also doing substantially better in both GPU benchmarks and in the gaming department. Overall, if you are considering these two processors, the newer Ryzen 5 4500U is definitely the one to go with.
