[Specs and Info] Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (17″, 2022) – The best IdeaPad 3 that’s available
The IdeaPad 3 is the best-selling product that Lenovo currently offers and that’s why the company is focused on making as many variants of it as possible.
The lineup consists of a 14-inch, a 15.6-inch, and a 17.3-inch device, so you can get something that suits your preferences. Today we have the larger 17.3-inch version, which still keeps the wide range of hardware options on both the AMD and Intel sides while having a trick up its sleeve to make it a formidable budget machine for designers.
Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (17″, 2022).
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (17″, 2022): Full Specs
Design
As with all other IdeaPad 3 laptops, the larger 17.3-inch device is built entirely from plastic. We hope that it’s a bit sturdier than its predecessor, but that’s a far cry. In terms of weight, the new device is 60 grams lighter than the 2021 version, while sporting a similar design, the base and lid have a brushed finish, which tries to mimic metal. The Lenovo logos on the edges of the lid and the base have a rainbow effect when put under sunlight.
Display
The display selection is very interesting and is actually what puts the laptop high on our radar. While the base 1600 x 900p TN panel won’t amaze anyone with its capabilities, the second option is much better for everything. While the contrast ratio is a bit low at 800:1, it still reaches 300 nits of brightness and has 72% NTSC coverage, which translates to about 95% to 99% of the sRGB color gamut, so you can use it for all types of color work.
Specifications and features
There is a huge variety of hardware, from the low-powered Pentium 8505 with 5 cores and 6 threads (it uses the same hybrid architecture as the 12th Gen Core-series of CPUs), to the larger Alder Lake U-series, with either the Core i3-1215U, Core i5-1235U, and Core i7-1255U. However, we encourage you to check out what AMD is offering as well. In this case, there are three Ryzen 5000U-series processors with the Zen 3 refresh, the Ryzen 3 5425U, Ryzen 5 5625U, and Ryzen 7 5825U, with the latter being very powerful and efficient. If you want to tackle more complex Creator work like video rendering, it will be a good companion.
Lastly, the port selection includes one USB 2.0 port, one Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1), which now has Power Delivery and DisplayPort capabilities, an HDMI 1.4b port, an SD card reader for transferring Photos to then edit, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
With this equipment, you can get a good-looking laptop that performs well and has a good display for professional work, which is a rare sight in the market.
