Top 5 reasons to BUY or NOT buy the ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 UM462

The ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 UM462 is very similar to the UX devices that we have reviewed recently – the UX563 and UX463. This one is a convertible laptop too – you can flip into a tablet or use it in tent mode on your desk. This notebook comes with AMD ULV CPUs that are efficient and fast at the same time. The good news is that the machine is cool and quiet under heavy load.

The top-end configuration features an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U and AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 which is one of the fastest iGPUs out there. Our test device is equipped with AMD Ryzen 5 3500U which is a modest processor but the machine is snappy and cool all the time. If you haven’t already checked our in-depth analysis regarding this device you can find it here.

4 reasons to BUY the ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 UM462

1. Good keyboard

Apart from the arrow keys (which have a bit soft feedback), the rest of the keycaps have a long travel and good clicky feedback. The keyboard has a backlight and it’s comfortable for long typing sessions. The NumberPad is integrated into the touchpad.

2. Great build quality

Just like its bigger siblings, this one has a good build quality. The laptop is made almost entirely of aluminum and its matte finish looks quite good. The lid and base of the device are strong and they can resist some heavy twists.

3. Decent 1080p screen

The IPS screen (BOE NV140FHM-N63 BOE07E9) has comfortable viewing angles, good contrast ratio – 1020:1 (1010:1 after profiling), a 90% sRGB coverage, and it’s completely PWM-free.

4. Long-enough battery life

For a 42Wh battery unit, the autonomous times we got aren’t bad – over 9 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback.

1 reason not to BUY the ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 UM462

1. Soldered RAM

Again, just like the other ASUS Flip devices that we reviewed in 2020, the RAM is soldered and you can’t upgrade it in the future if you need more system memory.
