Intel announces the 8th gen Core i9-8950HK mobile processor

We return with some juicy news for you straight from Intel’s kitchen – the renowned company has just announced its 8th gen Core i9 mobile processor suitable for high-end gaming laptops and working stations.

Being the first Core i9 member of mobile Intel CPUs, the Core i9-8950HK is based on the Coffee Lake architecture featuring a total of 6 cores. In addition, the 14nm chip boasts the HyperThreading technology which enables the processor to execute 12 sets of instructions at the same time.

Other significant specifications include 12 MB L3, dual-channel DDR4-2666 RAM, and 45 W TDP. Furthermore, the brand new processor is unlocked for overclocking and reaches base frequencies of up to 2.9 GHz and a 4.8 GHz turbo speed. Thanks to the support of Intel Thermal Velocity Boost, Core i9-8950HK can increase its clock speed by up to 200 MHz.

Intel claims a significant increase in the performance compared to the previous generation Core i7 – 29% performance boost, 41% better FPS (gaming frame rate), 32% higher game+stream+record speeds, as well as 59% faster 4K video editing.
