Acer TravelMate P4 (TMP413-51) review – compact and snappy
Verdict
The Acer TravelMate P4 (TMP413-51) is a small but capable device. This is possible thanks to the cooling solution. It looks modest but it just gets the job done even in long periods of 100% CPU load. In this case, the processor can maintain 2.16 GHz for the P cores and 1.67 GHz for the E cores. This is a respectable result for a 13-incher. Also, the chip temperature is under control and the fan is almost quiet.
The keyboard is comfortable for long hours of non-stop typing because it has a long key travel and clicky feedback. The optional backlight can be handy for those who prefer to work in a dimmed environment or during the nighttime. The touchpad has a smooth surface that allows precise tracking.
The 16:10 IPS display (BOE NV133WUM-N44 (BOE0C28)) is good enough for home or office usage. Most importantly, it’s PWM-free so if you take regular breaks you shouldn’t experience headaches or eye strain. The panel has a good contrast ratio, wide viewing angles, and a maximum brightness of 383 cd/m2.
The I/O is up to date with its two Thunderbolt 4 ports and HDMI 2.1. The build quality isn’t top-of-the-line because we observed bends and flexes on the lid as well as on the base. The other con of the laptop is the soldered LPDDR5 RAM and the single M.2 slot but that’s something normal for a compact device like this one.
The Acer TravelMate P4 (TMP413-51) is a portable machine with a PWM-free IPS display, comfortable input devices, a good cooling solution, and a battery that can last for more than 12 hours of Web browsing.
