Acer TravelMate P4 (TMP413-51) review – compact and snappy

    Temperatures and comfort, Battery Life

    Max CPU load

In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

The Core i5-1335U inside this machine can sustain very high clocks in short and medium loads which is impressive for a 13-inch laptop. In prolonged periods of 100% stress, the P core frequency is higher than the one of the 17-inch ASUS Vivobook 17 F1704 (X1704) with the same CPU – nice!

    Gaming comfort

We are a bit pleasantly surprised by the single fan that is almost quiet even while benchmarking the processor with Cinebench R24. In addition to that, the keyboard feels warm on the left side but since this zone doesn’t feel too toasty, you can use the laptop comfortably. In normal daily or office usage, the fan is almost dead silent. You can select the “Silent mode” or the “Normal mode” to lower the noise levels even more.

    Battery

Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. This device’s 53Wh battery lasts for 12 hours and 30 minutes of Web browsing, or 9 hours and 5 minutes of video playback. That’s a very good result! To achieve that, you have to apply the “Balanced” preset in the Windows “Power & Battery” menu and select the “Normal mode” in the Acer Quick Access app.
