Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 (14, Gen 8) review – solid 2-in-1 laptop that isn’t pricey

When it comes to 2-in-1 devices, Lenovo is one of the manufacturers that have a lot of experience with such notebooks. Yoga laptops are quite popular and now, the new Flex machines can offer the same transforming capabilities at a good price.

The hardware is the right choice for this kind of gadget – we got Barcelo-U Refresh CPUs. Ergo, these are Zen 3 processors with slightly bumped frequencies. The same chips are well-known for their reasonable performance and efficiency, which positively affects the battery life. As always, we’ll check this further in the review.

Just like its predecessor, the new kid on the block has a 16:10 display which is great for any kind of work because you got more vertical workspace. Oh, yes, we have a touchscreen panel here, so you can use your fingers or the optional Lenovo Digital Pen in the box instead of the mouse or the touchpad – nice!

At first glance, this device favors practicality and functionality, while the performance should be still good, but not top-notch given the refreshed Team Red platform. However, this 2-in-1 laptop will not stretch your wallet too much so the specs of the machine are the right choice for this kind of price tag.
