Lenovo LOQ (16″ Intel, 2023) review – literally an IdeaPad Gaming copy

    Design and construction

Well, this laptop is made entirely out of plastic. It is pretty much a twin of the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i (16″, 2022), with the exception of the LOQ logo in the top-left corner of the lid.

Its dimensions state that it has a profile of 21-25.9mm and weighs 2.60 kg. This is not exactly what we would call practical, but it is still better than the Dell G16 7630 for instance. This notebook’s lid is a bit prone to flex, but the base is quite stiffer.

Opening the lid is possible with one hand, and reveals thin bezels all around the matte display. Unlike most gaming laptops in its price range, this one features a Full HD Web camera. It also has an E-shutter located on the right side of the machine.

Next, there is the keyboard. It is a backlit unit, which sports a 4-zone RGB backlight. There is also a version that only comes in white. In addition, the device features a NumberPad and huge Arrow keys. We are pretty happy with the length of the key travel and the clicky feedback.

Lenovo LOQ (16″ Intel, 2023)’s touchpad has a Mylar surface, which is 75 by 120mm in size. Its texture is rather smooth (still not as much as glass though), while the tracking is more than decent.

A look at the bottom panel reveals the speaker cutouts, as well as the ventilation grills. Hot air, respectively, exits the device through four vents – two on the back, and one on each side of the product.

    Ports

On the left side, there is a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, which supports Power Delivery 140W and DisplayPort 1.4 output, as well as an Audio jack. Then, on the right, you get a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port and the aforementioned E-shutter switch. Lastly, the back is home to the two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, a LAN port, an HDMI 2.1 connector, and the power plug.

Salut!
