Lenovo Yoga Slim 6i (14, Gen 8, 14IAP8) review – thin and light machine with Alder Lake P-series CPU options

    Disassembly, Upgrade options, and Maintenance

If you want to remove the bottom plate, you have to undo 6 Torx-head screws. After that, you can pop up the panel with a plastic pry tool. Unfortunately, it’s a hard job. Especially if you don’t want to leave scratches on the laptop’s body.

You have to start carefully and work your way around from one of the top two corners with a plastic tool like the one on the picture and when you hear the first pop, you’re good to go.

The battery is a 65Wh unit. As expected, the first thing to do is to pull out the battery connector from the motherboard. Then, you have to unscrew the 2 Phillips-head screws that are fixing the battery to the base. The capacity of this model is enough for 9 hours and 5 minutes of Web browsing or 7 hours and 42 minutes of video playback. Some devices are equipped with a 60W battery unit and the overall weight of these machines is slightly lower.

The memory here is soldered but works in dual-channel mode. The maximum amount of RAM is 16GB LPDDR5-4800MHz. Storage-wise, there is a single M.2 slot compatible with 2242 and 2280 Gen. 4 SSDs. As you can see, our laptop is equipped with a shorter NVMe.

    4. Cooling system

The cooling solution seems good for a compact device like this one. It comprises two fans and two heat pipes.
