Acer TravelMate P2 (TMP216-51) review – its upgradability and cooling are very good

The Acer TravelMate P2 (TMP216-51) is described by its manufacturer as a device that falls in the essentials category in terms of specs. The target audience for this machine is SMB customers (small and medium-sized businesses) as well as hybrid and frontline workers.

The machine isn’t basic at all when it comes to features. Sure, there is just one display option, but since that’s a 16″ 16:10 IPS panel, we think it’s good enough considering the price category. You can choose between five CPU options, some of them are vPro chips. There is even an optional NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 if you need more graphics power.

For such a laptop, the upgradability looks great and you can even get a SATA slot if you don’t opt for the optional LTE connectivity. Speaking of which, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 are on board alongside decent I/O. This reminds us that the ports are reinforced with additional metal brackets.

This Acer machine boasts some extras that are also available for higher-tier notebooks. This includes the Dust Defender System, a TPM 2.0 module, a spill-resistant keyboard, a self-healing BIOS, and a privacy shutter. The machine is MIL-STD 810H certified so it has successfully passed many military reliability tests.
