ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1605) review – affordability comes at 16 inches

    Max CPU load

In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

Despite its larger size, the Vivobook 16 (X1605) performs worse than the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 4 in long loads. However, short loads are pretty decent, considering the 45W charger, which limits the power input. Other than that, we think that the cooling can handle much more abuse.

    Comfort during full load

Because of that, the fan was not spinning very fast. This results in good comfort even during extreme workload conditions. Even the hotspot of the keyboard is below 40°C.

    Battery

Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. This device’s 42Wh battery pack lasts for 10 hours and 42 minutes of Web browsing, or 5 hours and 33 minutes of video playback.

Brightness: 180 nits; Display Mode: SDR
Time to Full Discharge: Higher is Better

In order to simulate real-life conditions, we used our own script for automatic web browsing through over 70 websites.

    Thank you for the article.

I’m waiting for delivery on the laptop linked below, and it comes with a m.2 port.
Does this mean that I cannot install a second m.2 ssd internally?

    Thanks.
