Dell G15 5530 review – still a little obese, but has a good cooling

While it has plenty of knowledge from its Alienware brand, Dell insists to make its G-series gaming notebooks its own way. With compromises and at least one thing that makes absolutely no sense.

For the past couple of years, this particular feature is the weight. In a world where gaming laptops are getting progressively lighter and thinner, Dell makes machines that simulate a shoulder workout in less than 15 minutes.

Nevertheless, all of this might be for a reason, because we have noticed that the manufacturer has equipped its G15 5530 with a 140W RTX 4050. Yet again, the RTX 4000 GPU lineup is known for its tendency not to run at the specified TGP, so that would be an interesting value to look for.

In addition to that, Dell has opted for an HX-series processor from Intel. They can often boost to more than 150W, which is another reason we will let the heavyweight slide. At least for now.

By the way, the Dell G15 is slowly delving into the ocean of premium gaming notebooks. It can now be found with a 360Hz 1080p panel, and even a 240Hz 1440p one. Of course, there are two less expensive options, which are 1080p units with 120Hz and 165Hz refresh rates respectively. All of them are IPS devices.

So, let’s take this monster out of its box (which looks pretty standard, by the way), and check out what you get with it.

What’s in the box?

It was kind of surprising for us to find out that the mandatory paper manuals are paired with a huge 330W charger – even with the RTX 4050 model.

Hi. Are you sure this one has no PWM ( 0 PWM ); because Notebookcheck mentioned it has 21620 Hz PWM flicker at all times. Can you kindly confirm the same before i purchase. Thanks.

The Display here is a LG, the one in the Notebookcheck review is from AUO. Sadly, we as a consumer have no way to tell Dell which display we want. But the meassured frequency in tthe notebookcheck review is quite high so it should not affect the user.

Hello, it seems like that the i9-13900HX model is only available in some countries, so far, the “Dell G15 5530 i9” is available in Tunisia, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Tunisia offers the cheapest option, here’s a link to it. https://www.tunisianet.com.tn/pc-portable-tunisie/68323-pc-portable-dell-gaming-g15-5530-i9-13e-gen-64-go-rtx-4060-8g-windows-11.html
It’s around 2000 USD assuming no sales.

Hola por allá… como ya viste el cargador es masivo y si es pesado, por lo que necesito ayuda para ver si podría haber en el mercado alguno otro cargador compatible de menores proporciones, sin perder tanto capacidad.

Saludos desde México.
